Sunday Notes and Links – February 5, 2017

Currently Inked - February 5, 2017My fountain pen usage was up a bit this week. I journaled at least one page each night and returned to a normal level of work related note taking. InCoWriMo has been a complete failure for me. While I didn’t expect to write a letter or postcard every day I had intended to catch up on correspondence and I haven’t even started that.

My Montblanc Ultra Black (OM) when dry right after I published my Currently Inked post, as expected. I gave it a quick flush and returned it to the rotation with the same Montblanc Bordeaux.

Fountain Pen Sales Are Surging, Despite Flat Luxury Global Sales – Bloomberg // More mainstream news about fountain pens although I think it calls me peculiar: “The fountain pen has not gone the way of the horse and buggy. Rather, the correct analogy is with the horse itself: It would be peculiar to use one as your only mode of transportation, but it’s a privilege to trot one out on special occasions.”

Currently Inked - January 29, 2017

I wrote one pen dry, but the other six are still around.

I’m in a rut. My writing continued at a low level. My note taking was up a little this week, but that didn’t make up for the days I skipped journaling. I finally wrote a pen dry, the Sailor King of Pen with Montblanc Lucky Orange ink. So there’s a new photo with just six pens. I may prematurely flush and replace a couple other pens as February begins, just to mix things up a bit. I’ll be re-inking the Sailor KOP later today but with a different ink (still undecided) and the Lucky Orange will return to a different pen. I want to see how it does with a thinner nib.

InCoWriMo starts this week. I was going to skip it this year, but I’ll take the motivation to write and say I’m doing it, even though I’m 99.9% sure I won’t come close to 1 a day. I’ll take the opportunity to catch up with letters that I owe and maybe send out some postcards.

Pen Shows & Clubs

The next US show is on the other coast, in Los Angeles, from February 16th to 19th.

My fountain pen usage was down even more this week as I missed doing journal entries a couple of days. So no pens went dry and I haven’t ink up any new pens. I could have used the same picture again but I’m tired of it and I didn’t have time to take another one. So no photo today.

The same set of pens for yet another week.

It was another typical week of fountain pen usage. With seven pens inked up I picked a different one as my primary writer each day to give them all a chance. While there was one day with heavier than normal note taking most of my writing consisted of one journal page each night and a few notes during the day. No pens went dry and no new pens were inked up. This makes three weeks in a row with the same set of pens.

Same pens as last week.

It’s been a slow week when considering my fountain pen usage, but a busy week in all other aspects. Nearly all my pen usage was in my nightly journal entries and that was also below normal, although I wrote at least 1/2 a page every night to keep the habit. No change in my pens and ink during the week and there’s still plenty of ink in each one.

Pen Shows & Clubs

The US pen show season is season kicking off in Philadelphia on January 13-15th.
