Sunday Notes and Links – New Year Edition

Currently Inked - January 1, 2017Happy New Year!

I didn’t use my fountain pens very much this past week. I managed to pick up a cold that wiped me out over the Christmas weekend. I managed to write one journal page since Monday but other than that my pens got little use. So it’s no surprise that I didn’t write any pens dry this week.

Sunday Notes and Links – Holiday Edition

Cheers! - Happy holidayCheers and happy holidays to everyone. Happy Sunday to those who don’t celebrate any holiday this time of year. Since Sunday is Christmas for me, and I’m busy the day or two before, I’m putting this together on Thursday and will schedule it for Sunday. I’ll catch up with any missed links next week.

I’ve been consistent all year and every post (except these Sunday link posts) starts life as a written draft. That ended this week when the last two Ink & Pen Notes started life electronically to save time. This, along with things being slower at work, meant I used my pens a lot less. So naturally I responded by inking up a few more and now have seven fountain pens inked up. I received the ink I mentioned last Sunday and it’s already in my pens. The Montblanc Lucky Orange is in my Sailor KOP and Monteverde Napa Burgundy is in my Pelikan M805. Both inks have made a very favorable first impression.

Sunday Notes and Links – December 18, 2016

Despite what the calendar says, winter is here in Connecticut. We had two straight days (and three nights) of sub-freezing temperature with a light dusting of snow each morning and then yesterday was the first snowfall that dumped enough to require shoveling. This triggered two things. First, I have to now remember not to leave a fountain pen in the car for an extended period of time. And second, I ordered some ink. OK, this last one is counterintuitive but Montblanc released their Lucky Orange ink. I’m still looking for an orange ink that really pulls me in. Maybe this will be it. I tried to time the order so it arrives during the relative heatwave of Sunday and fingers crossed that it’ll survive Sunday night in a trailer.

While down from the previous week, I did use my fountain pens a lot this week. I’ve been writing a journal page each night so I’m still in that habit. I did get two pages in one night but I’m in a bit of a rut and stopping after one page. I took a few more notes than usual and did some other writing. With all the writing I’m down to three inked fountain pens, although I do expect to ink up at least one pen later today and one more when the Montblanc Lucky Orange arrives. But I do feel the pull of multiple pens and inks so I may ink up many more. I have to admit to a certain satisfaction when I write a pen dry.

My currently inked pens as another week ends.

My writing increased this past week, mainly due to the three articles posted this week. All started as hand written drafts. I wrote the Aurora dry and the Krusac Legend is on its last drops of ink. I needed a thin nib with a dark ink so I inked up my Sailor Pro Gear Regency Stripe with Sailor Sei-Boku Blue-Black pigment ink.

Currently inked pens

Another fairly light week of fountain pen usage. The best I can say is I used them every day and wrote at least one A5 sized page each day. Unfortunately not much more than that one page each day.

I am behind on my December Currently Inked post although I hope to have it out on Monday. I’m also trying to get some “This Just In” posts for my latest pens but no promises there.
